Thankfully not around the waistline. This month we are launching our first Club meeting outside the Bulimba/Morningside area on Manly on the Bayside. Our first meeting there is at the Cuttlefish Cafe on the Esplanade on Tue 31 Aug (7.30am-8.30am). We’ve also had enquiries from business people in other suburbs and, depending on how we go with Manly, may well expand out to other locations as well. Watch this space.

Fascinating talk by Josh Robertson from the Courier Mail
The July Coffee & Croissant meeting was treated to a fascinating talk by Courier Mail Confidential journalist Josh Robertson on ‘What the media wants’.
In the 15 minute segment Josh gave everyone a really good idea of how journalists work and what they’re looking for. Unfortunately you had to be there as everything he said was ‘off the record’!
This time we held the Club at Simply Blooms on Wynnum Road in Morningside – a great venue with great coffee, great flowers and an amazing array of classic gifts. Next time we’ll be back on the NewsBusiness balcony in Bulimba.

Small but select gathering last Friday
We had a small but select group come along to the June meeting of the Club at Wicked Sisters cafe last week. As you know we rotate the mornings and this was our first Friday morning meeting. Perhaps Friday mornings aren’t good – or perhaps it was the weather – it was freezing (by Brisbane standards anyway). We’re in the process of organising a speaker for the next meeting but the date is set – put Tuesday 27th July 7.30am-8.30am in your diary.
On another note we’re looking at expanding the Club to (initially at least) other parts of Brisbane – Bayside and Paddington area being the first two under consideration. If you would like to come along to Club events in these areas please let us know!

Oh no! No croissants!
Our June meeting will be held at Wicked Sisters, 216 Riding Road Hawthorne, on Friday 25th June 7.30am-8,30am. There are two changes to note.
Firstly, Wicked Sisters do not have croissants! The Banana Bread and Coffee Club just does not have the same ring. However they do have plenty of tasty alternatives to croissants and we’re sure you’ll find one to suit.
Secondly, we have been able to change the billing currency to Australian dollars, so you are no longer at the mercy of fluctuating exchange rates. To make it still work for us, we’ve had to increase the price slightly to $17.50. Australian.
Our speaker this month is Fay Caughey from Kaizen Coaching Queensland, who will be talking on how to survive and thrive in the economic downturn. We look forward to seeing you there!

Next Event – Wed 28 April – see you there!
This time the meeting will be at Cafe Otello – so you won’t need to get your coffee and croissant first. It’ll be right there!

The Club’s first event
We held the first meeting of the Coffee and Croissant Club on Tue 30th March. Around 15 people came along to listen to David Bateson talk about PR Marketing and – amazingly – the meeting more or less stuck to the planned timetable and response from everyone that came along was good. The general feeling was that a monthly meeting would work well, so that is what we’ll be doing! We’ll be announcing the date and speaker for the April meeting soon.
